Hawks split double-header with Columbia-Greene

The MVCC baseball team (9-7 overall, 5-3 Region III) split today's Region III double-header against Columbia-Greene CC losing the opener 5-4 before storming back in the nightcap by a score of 10-0.

MVCC took three out of four in the series.

In game one, CGCC scored an un-earned run in the fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie. Matt Thompson and Alex McLean each had two hits for the Hawks. Marcus Failing took the loss on the mound.

Game Two saw the MVCC bats come to life producing 10 runs on 11 hits led by Alex McLean who was 3-for-4. Steve Scialdo had four RBI's including a double on two hits and Matt Thompson added two hits in the game, which was shortened to six innings due to the 10-run rule.

Ed Zakrzewski went the distance on the mound, striking out seven against one walk while allowing only two hits.
