Hawks Baseball Takes Two From Columbia-Greene

MVCC baseball coach Dave Warren has been waiting his team to put together a complete game with solid pitching, timely hitting and a great defensive effort. The Hawks provided all three on Saturday as they swept Columbia-Greene 9-1 and 7-3 at Murnane Field.

Game One: Jesse Whitmeyer struck out 15 batters in a complete game victory. JT Ross,  Justin Kiesow and Matt Thompson all had two hits for the Hawks. Thompson delivered the big blow with a 3 RBI triple in the 4th.

Game Two: Jeff Cooke picked up the win on the hill going all 7 innings giving up only one earned run with 6 strikeouts.  Justin Kiesow led the offense with three hits including two doubles.  Derrin Lilley and and Ryan Fahy both chipped in two hits for the Hawks.

MVCC improves to 9-10 and the season and look to get above .500 when they complete the home and away series against the Columbia-Greene CC Twins on Sunday in Hudson.
