The MVCC ice hockey team played Broome Community College in an even match up, but the Hawks were unable to stump the visiting team's goalie as they headed south with a 9-2 victory Monday at the Utica Auditorium.
The first two periods were very close as Broome held a 2-0 first period lead, which was extended to 3-0 before heading into the final 20 minutes. MVCC held a 12-10 edge in shots on goal in the first period and a 13-11 edge in the second, but could get the puck between the pipes.
Broome came back to dominated the third period with 22 shots on goal of which six found the back of the net. MVCC falls to 5-10-1 overall and 4-6 in games at home.
