The MVCC men's soccer team is back in track with its winnings ways as the Hawks sent Jefferson Community College packing with a 2-0 loss on Saturday. This victory improves the Hawks to 13-2 on the season and 5-1 in the Mountain Valley Conference.
The big gun for the Hawks was Mark Hennings as he scored both goals. The icebreaking goal came at the 24-minute mark of the first half off a cross pass from Mohamed Hagi. This 1-0 lead held through halftime.
The insurance goal for the Hawks came at the 70:13 mark of the second half as Hennings put a shot into the back of the net off a pass from Jake Pohl. Hennings, a freshman native of Poland (NY), now has seven goals and five assists on the season. Pohl has two goals and two assists while Hagi has nine assists to go with his seven goals.
On the season, the men's soccer program has tallied 28 goals while averaging 2.6 shots on goal per game. The Hawks have only allowed five goals.
