The men's cross country team has been having loads of success this season with different runners coming to the forefront for the Hawks. This weekend at the Hamilton College Cross Country Invitational, there were three sophomores who picked up the pace and helped the Hawks land 11th place in a very competitive field of cross country powerhouses.
The Hawks' top runner was freshman Barrett Celecki in 27th place with a time of 27 minutes, 5 seconds on the eight-kilometer course on the Hamilton College Golf Course.
The next three runners from MVCC were the sophomore trio. Todd Stevens came in 43rd in a time of 27:48.1 while Stephen Paddock finished in 28:30.6 for 70th place. Connor Butters was 88th in 29:07.8 as the Hawks accumulated 266 points in this field of 177 runners.
The field consisted of 17 colleges and universities from across the Northeast and Canada. Rounding out the scoring for the Hawks was freshman Tyler Beattie in 111th in 29:38.9.
Hamilton College asked all the schools to wear pink because of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The runners decided that the wearing of pink was great, but did not go far enough and donated a total of $210.00 to help the fight.
