
MVCC freshman Zakaria Djouma (Utica, NY/Proctor) made quite the impression in his first collegiate win at the SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational.
Djouma ran away from the competition finishing the 6K race in a record setting time of 18:50.8, nearly a minute faster than the second place finisher. Djouma broke the 2013 course record of 19:39.
Fellow Freshman Alec Ambruso (Utica, NY) finished 31st overall with a time of 21:53. He was followed by Sophomore Tyler Beattie (Whitesboro, NY) who finished 33rd in 22:00.
Freshman Mike Warchol (New Hartford, NY) crossed the line just under the 25 minute mark (24:57) and Nick Cecilia (Whitesboro, NY) was second behind at 25:03.
Freshman Tyler Unislawski (Gloversville, NY) finished his first college race in 25:53.
Freshman Alex Buck (Gloversville, NY) completed the course in 35:40 (84th place).
