Allison Auger scored the game winning goal with 2:49 left in the second half as MV beat Genesee 12-11 in a thriller at D'Alesandro Stadium.
MVCC fell behind near the 10 minute mark of the first half before Auger scored her first goal of the game. Genesee and MV would trade goals before Katie Elsenbeck and Nicole Jones put MV up 3-2. Mackenzie Smith then scored 2 goals just 42 seconds apart as MV led 5-2 before the Cougars rattled off four straight goals to take a 6-5 lead. Malorey Muzzy's goal with 5:15 remaining in the half tied the game at six, a score that held up at halftime.
The teams would again trade goals to open the second half before Smith and Jones put the Hawks up 10-8 with just over 15 minutes to play. Genesee's Mackenzie Woods blasted two goals to tie the game at 10 before Ashley Makowski put the Cougar's up 11-10 with 6:06 to play.
MV would then go on the attack as Elsenbeck scored her third goal of the game to tie it at 11 with 4:13 to play. That goal would set the stage for Auger to net the winner and propel the Lady Hawks to the win. Mackenzie Baciuska had six saves in the win.
