MVCC Lady Hawks Lead Track Nationals Going Into Final Day

The MVCC Lady Hawks had another strong showing on day two of the NJCAA National Track and Field Championships.

MVCC's Leah Rice started the day by winning the Women's 10000m run in 40:42:35 to best Howard Community College runner Caroline Haden by 10 seconds. MV's Lauren Rabideau was third in 42:28.49 and Rebecca LaPorte finished 5th.

In the field, Harley Buczkowski finished second in the discus throw while fellow thrower Marisa Chavez finished seventh. Pole Vaulter Nicole Foti finished 6th and Hannah West finished 7th in the triple jump.

MVCC heads into the final day of the competition with 75 points, ahead of Suffolk Community College (62pts) and SUNY Delhi (52pts).

Saturday will feature a variety of events on the track and the shot put, javelin throw and high jump left on the track.
