MVCC Lady Hawks Claim Fifth at Nationals

The MVCC Lady Hawks had a successful weekend at the NJCAA National Track & Field Championships held in Holyoke, Massachusetts.   MVCC placed fifth overall and first amongst Region III schools at the Championships. 

Nicole Foti was crowned National Champion in the Pole Vault (2.91m) and finished fifth overall in the heptathlon.  She also placed eighth in the javelin throw (26.79m).

Anna Roberts concluded her stellar track and field career by anchoring the national championship 4x800m relay team and winning the 3000m steeplechase national title with a personal best of 11:52.13. Roberts also earned All-American honors with her third place finish in the 1500m run. 

Kayla Butler placed as an All-American by finishing sixth in the hammer throw (30.29m total 99'04").

Ruth Barnes cleared 2.11m in the pole vault and earned sixth place in the country. 

Courtney Sherry lept 1.51m (4'11.50) and claimed the fifth best spot overall for the high jump. 

Rebecca LaPorte placed fifth in the steeplechase (13:25.94) and seventh in the 10000m run.

Kimberly Wrate ran to a fifth place finish in the 10000m run (44:18.15).

Andrea George was 8th in the 1500m run for the Hawks, 

Carolyn Peck was named an All-American for her eighth place finish in the 400m dash.  

The 4x800m relay team raced to a first place finish (10:10.66) and narrowly beat runner-up Suffolk (10:10.90).
