MVCC women runners dominate Wildcat Classic

As the MVCC women's cross country team continues to prepare to challenge for the Region III and NJCAA national titles, the Hawks swooped into Marcy over the weekend to steal the thunder of the 2nd Annual SUNY Poly Wildcat Weekend Classic.

The Hawks had three runners place in the top 10 as MVCC won the team title with 44 points followed by Cazenovia College with 55 points. The rest of the field of seven colleges was left far behind.

Leading the field of 56 runners for the Hawks was sophomore Stephanie Boucher as she finished in first place on the 5-kilometer course in 20 minutes, one second. She was just three seconds ahead of Herkimer College's Victoria Campanian.

Taking fifth place for the Hawks was freshman Anna Marie Roberts in a time of 21:38, while freshman Rebecca LaPorte was seventh in 22:25. Also scoring for MVCC was sophomore Hannah West in 17th place with a time of 23:08, and freshman Kim Wrate in 19th with a time of 23:15.
