MVCC women's cross country captures conference title

There is no doubt about what led the Mohawk Valley Community College women's cross country team to its latest championship. Teamwork.

The women's squad took five of the top finishing places to win the Mountain Valley Conference championship once more. The MVCC team has dominated the sport for more than two decades, having been named Program of the Decade in 2000 and 2010.

This year's team is helping the Hawks earn a third distinction as they won the crown by scoring 27 points. SUNY Delhi was the next best team with 48 points.

Leading the Hawks was sophomore Stephanie Boucher as she placed second in a time of 18 minutes, 34 seconds. The Hawks had three runners take fourth, fifth and sixth, led by freshman Anna Marie Roberts in a time of 19:33. She was followed by freshmen Rebecca LaPorte in 20:12 and Mary Manzari in 20:13. Rounding out the scoring for MVCC was sophomore Hannah West in 11th place with a time of 21:14.
