Mohawk Valley Community College will host a Lacrosse Skills Camp this summer at the College’s Utica Campus, 1101 Sherman Drive.
Designed for boys ages 7-18, this camp will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Thursday, Aug. 12-15. The camp will focus on the basic fundamental skills of the players, enabling individuals to begin preparing for the upcoming lacrosse season in a safe, focused, and competitive environment. There will be competitions and prizes awarded at the end of the camp in all age divisions. Stick work sessions cover fundamental passing and catching drills, how to properly hold a stick, hand and foot positioning, proper throwing techniques, and working on the triple threat position. Station work sessions will cover basic knowledge of playing each position on the field. Coaches will be designated specific stations to help with the skills development on offense and defense. There also will be a coach working specifically with players who want to face off, and one working with those who want to be goalies.
The cost of the camp is $120, with a $10 discount for multiple family members, and includes a Hawks Lacrosse Camp T-shirt and supplemental camp insurance. Campers should bring their own sneakers, cleats, sticks, helmets, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads, goalie chest and throat protectors, and lunch, snacks, and water.
