#4 Hawks extend their record to 6-0

The Mohawk Valley Community College Men's Soccer team traveled to Finger Lakes Community College on Wednesday evening. Zach Gleasman was the first Hawk to find the back of the net just 1:36 into the game when he stole a ball from a defender and fired home the shot. The Hawks would strike again just seven minutes later when Erick Ramos found Romaine Watkis to extend the lead to 2-0. In the 23rd minute, Ousmane Konate received a ball in behind from Erick Ramos for his first goal of the season. Trevor Worden found his first tally of the season when he received a ball in the box from Abdi Somow and fired home the shot to put the Hawks up 4-0. Romaine Watkis would score his second goal of the game with less than a minute left in the first half. The Hawks headed into halftime with a 5-0 lead while holding a 25-3 advantage in shots and outshooting their opponent 12-2 on goal.

Kevin Griffith was the first Hawk to find the back of the net in the second half when he received a ball from Trevor Worden and buried home the shot in the 58th minute. Cheikh Abdoullah Niasse went on to finish a cross from Bradley Taft in the 61st minute of the game to put the Hawks up 7-0. Just a few minutes later, Bradley Taft took on a few defenders in the box and fired home his first goal of the season. In the 83rd minute, Erick Ramos would step up and bury home a free kick from outside the box to put the Hawks up 9-0. Andres Esteban Florez would head home an opportunity from Cameron Watson in the 84th minute for the Hawks 10th goal of the game. Stuart Boller and Tucker Garrett combined for 3 total saves in the Hawks 5th shutout of the season. Zach Payne would finish the game with 13 saves. The Hawks outshot the Lakers 45-3 while holding a 24-2 shot advantage on goal. The Hawks also held a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Hawks return to action this weekend at home in a Saturday/Sunday double header. The Hawks take on the Saints of North Country at 3:00pm on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday at 1:00pm the Hawks will take on Bryant and Stratton of the USCAA in a non-region/NJCAA match.
