
The MVCC Hawks baseball team swept their Region III double-header against Columbia-Greene Community College at Donovan Stadium.
The Hawks scored five runs in the first inning of opener, which proved to be enough as the Hawks held on for a 5-2 win.
Ben Barnes picked up the win from the mound with Stephen Scialdo earning his second save of the season. Brandon Thomas had two hits including a double and an RBI and JT Ross had two hits and an RBI.
In the twilight game, the Hawks battled for a 9-3 victory behind another strong pitching performance. Josh Luczak went 4 2/3 innings before giving way to Christian King for the final 2 1/3 innings. The two combined to scatter seven hits with Luczak getting the win.
Brandon Pelose had two hits and two RBI's, Jeff Ramos doubled and Rob Slivinski had a hit and two RBI's for MVCC (8-6 overall, 4-2 Region III).
The Hawks travel to Columbia-Greene CC on Sunday for another double-header against the Twins.
