Men's Track In Middle of Pack At Nationals

The MVCC Men's Track & Field team made some strides on Friday as they moved into 5th place in the NJCAA National Championships at MVCC.

The Hawks day started an hour earlier than originally expected as the Men's 10000m run was moved up an hour to try and beat the heat. Stephen Paddock from Ilion led MVCC to a 5th place finish (35:38.00). Jon Wilmont finished 11th in the competition.

With the afternoon sun shining down on the athletes at D'Alesandro Stadium, MVCC's Alec Swider from Scotia-Glenville took 5th place in the Men's Long Jump (6.71m).

Back on campus Ryan Lockwood from Oriskany took fifth in the Men's Discus (39.56m) and Fausto Martinez-Lino (Utica/TR Proctor) finished seventh (39.02m).

MVCC enters the final day of competition with 36 points (5th place), SUNY Delhi leads all Men's teams with 112.5 points.  Harper College is second with 44 points, Gloucester is third with 38 points and Herkimer College is fourth with 38 points.  You can see all the live scoring at
