Women's Lax Tops Niagara 21-0

Six different players tallied a total of 21 goals as the MVCC Lady Hawks Lacrosse team picked up their second win in row by shutting out Niagara County Community College 21-0 in Sanford.

Nicole Jones scored the first two goals of the game and led the MV offense with 9 goals and 1 assist. She was 21 of 23 on the draws with 12 ground balls.  Taylor Kopcza had 15 ground balls, 4 goals and 1 assist.  Holly Hash added 10 ground balls, 3 goals and 2 assists.

Coach Josh Higby creditsthe mental toughness of the Lady Hawks.  "To play on a snow covered field in the bone chilling wind and still be able to run the offense is a testiment to this team", Higby said.

Allison Auger earned a shutout in goal in a large part because of tenacious way the team controlled the ground balls and the draws.

The Lady Hawks evened their record at 2-2 and host Howard Community College at D'Alesandro Stadium on Tuesday in a 12pm matinee.
