Women's cross country places 11th at Hamitlon Invitational

It was a strong field of runners at the 2014 Hamilton College Cross Country Invitational held Saturday, October 11, at the Hamilton College Golf Course.

The MVCC women's squad finished in 11th place out of 16 colleges and universities from across the Northeast and Canada. The top runner for the Hawks was sophomore Stephanie Boucher as she finished the 5-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 7.5 seconds. While teammate Rebecca LaPorte was only a minute behind with 20:34.4, she finished in 79th place as there were 161 runners in the field.

Also scoring for the Hawks was freshman Mary Manzari in 100th place in 21:01.9 followed by freshman Marissa Braun in 108th in 21:20.5. The fifth runner scoring for MVCC was freshman Kimberly Wrate in 120th place in 21:56.

Hamilton College asked all the schools to wear pink because of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The runners decided that the wearing of pink was great, but did not go far enough and donated a total of $210.00 to help the fight.
