Hawks Bounce Back For A Game 2 Victory Against The Tribunes
GAME 1: MVCC 0 / MCC 11
Monroe CC got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Madalyn Robinson singled to the left side of the infield, Jenny Walter singled down the right field line, Olivia Miles singled down the right field line, MVCC Hawks committed an error, and MVCC Hawks committed an error, each scoring one run.
Monroe CC added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after MVCC Hawks committed an error, Walter lined out, and Brooke Downey singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Amanda Linnenbrink earned the win for Monroe CC. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking none. Kaylee Beam took the loss for MVCC Hawks. The righty went three innings, allowing eight runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out three and walking two.
Sarah Zuchowski went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead MVCC Hawks in hits.
GAME 2: MVCC 5 / MCC 3
MVCC Hawks built a 5-run lead in the first inning and then held off Monroe CC's charge for a 5-3 victory on Saturday. Monroe CC closed the gap by scoring on a single, an error, and a double.
MVCC Hawks got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Scout Ludwig doubled, scoring two runs, Lani Roberts doubled, scoring one run, Kaylee Beam singled, scoring one run, and Sarah Zuchowski singled, scoring one run.
Beam earned the win for MVCC Hawks. The hurler gave up seven hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out one and walking two. Carly Cegielski took the loss for Monroe CC. The right-handed pitcher went five innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out none and walking three. Amanda Linnenbrink stepped in the circle first for Monroe CC. The pitcher gave up zero hits and one run over one inning, striking out one and walking one.
Ludwig provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led MVCC Hawks with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Beam led MVCC Hawks with two hits in three at bats. MVCC Hawks worked the count all day, piling up four walks.
