Hawks Volleyball Competes Strongly in Opening Weekend Pod
The MVCC Hawks Volleyball team opened their 2025 season this past weekend with a competitive showing in their first regional pod, facing tough opponents in Onondaga and Corning Community College.
Despite dropping both matches in straight sets, the Hawks showed flashes of strong play and potential as they begin to build chemistry and momentum early in the season.
Match 1: vs. Corning CC
Corning came out strong and secured the win in three straight sets. The Hawks battled throughout but couldn't overcome Corning's offensive rhythm and consistent serving.

Match 2: vs. Onondaga CC
In their second match of the day, MVCC faced another regional powerhouse in Onondaga CC. The Hawks put together solid rallies and showed strong defensive stretches, but ultimately fell in straight sets.

While the results didn't fall in their favor, the Hawks demonstrated resilience and a competitive edge that they'll look to build on as the season progresses. With a young squad and several newcomers stepping into key roles, MVCC is poised to grow stronger with each match.
The Hawks will return to actionthis weekend when they travel to SUNY Broome to take on the Hornets.
