Seven Hawks Earn All-Conference Honors; Camacho Named Player of the Year
Freshman winger Mario Camacho of Málaga, Spain has been named Player of the Year after an exceptional season in which he recorded 10 goals and led the nation in assists with 14, totaling 34 points.
Camacho is joined on the All-Conference teams by Souayibou Diop, Yannick Diaby, Bakir Omercevic, Francesco Tagliavini, Davi Pena Moretzohn, Diogo Silva, and Yahya Sy.
Sophomore and team captain Souayibou Diop, a dynamic box-to-box midfielder from the Bronx, led the Hawks with 20 goals—second in the nation—and added 6 assists. His 46 points ranked third nationally.
Sophomore Yannick Diaby, a center back also from the Bronx, was a cornerstone of the Hawks' defensive unit, contributing 1 goal and 2 assists over the season.
Freshmen Bakir Omercevic, a defender from Utica, N.Y., played a vital role on the back line and concluded the season with 4 goals and 2 assists.
Freshman Francesco Tagliavini of London, England delivered an outstanding debut season with 18 goals and 8 assists. His goal total ranked fifth nationally, and his 42 points ranked fourth. Tagliavini and Diop were the only pair of teammates in the country to rank in the top five in both categories.
Sophomore Davi Pena Moretzohn, a midfielder from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, capped off an impressive career with 7 goals and 10 assists.
Sophomore Diogo Silva, a defender, also from Belo Horizonte, added 3 goals and 6 assists while providing consistent two-way play.
Sophomore Yahya Sy, a Bronx native, was a key contributor throughout the season, primarily anchoring the defense as a center back.
