Mohawk Valley Community College Holds Off Late Surge to Defeat Fulton-Montgomery Community College, 91–84

#12 Nationally ranked, Mohawk Valley Community College built a commanding first-half lead and withstood a late surge to secure a 91-84 victory Sunday afternoon against Fulton Montgomery Community College.

The Hawks came out firing, erupting for 48 points in the opening half while holding the Raiders to 28. Mohawk Valley shot 53 percent from the field for the game (35-of-66) and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Jaeshaun Felder led the charge with 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting, adding four rebounds and three assists in 39 minutes of steady play. Sincere Smith delivered an efficient performance with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting and a 6-of-7 mark at the stripe.

Darnell Childs added 16 points and six rebounds, while Donald Grant Jr. contributed 15 points and six boards. Brandon Way Jr. provided a spark off the bench with 11 points in 16 minutes, and Kevion Cummings chipped in eight points, four assists, and four steals to anchor the defensive effort.

Despite being outrebounded 40-24, Mohawk Valley made up the difference with defensive pressure and ball security. The team forced 15 turnovers, collecting 13 steals, while committing just seven turnovers of its own.

The Hawks close out their season when they travel to Hudson Valley on Wednesday evening and Clinton Community College on Thursday evening.
