Hawks Drop Season Finale on Road

The Mohawk Valley Community College men's basketball team battled into overtime in their season finale but came up just short in a 90-86 road loss to Clinton Community College-NY in Plattsburgh.

Cougars surged to a 43-29 halftime lead. The Hawks responded with a strong second half, outscoring Clinton 45-31 to force overtime tied at 74-74. In the extra session, Clinton narrowly edged MVCC 16-12 to secure the four-point victory.

Darnell Childs delivered a standout effort for the Hawks, pouring in 30 points on 12-of-24 shooting while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. He added six rebounds and three steals in 40 minutes of action.

Jaeshaun Felder contributed 14 points and five rebounds, while Donald Grant Jr. added 11 points, six boards, and three made three-pointers. Kevion Cummings chipped in nine points and four rebounds as MVCC fought back from the early deficit.

Despite struggling from the field at 34.3 percent and 13.3 percent from three-point range, the Hawks stayed within striking distance by attacking the glass (13 offensive rebounds) and getting to the free throw line, converting 17-of-25 attempts.

The Hawks will wait for the seeding results for the NCJAA Region III Tournamnet held in Batavia, NY at Genesee Community College. The tournament takes place from 2/27-3/1. For more information please visit: https://www.njcaaregion3.org/sports/mbkb/index
