Women's Track & Field Posts Strong Showing at St. Lawrence Open
CANTON, NY — The Mohawk Valley Community College women's track & field team delivered an impressive performance on February 20 at the St. Lawrence Open, hosted at Newell Field House, earning multiple Top 5 finishes against a competitive field that included four-year programs.
Freshman sprinter Jaleea Garner continued her outstanding indoor season with a podium finish in the women's 60-meter dash. After qualifying through preliminaries in 7.98, Garner elevated her performance in the final, clocking 7.93 to secure third place overall. Recently named NJCAA Region III Athlete of the Week, Garner continues to prove herself as a contender at the National level.
In the field events, Ava White added a second-place finish in the women's pole vault, clearing 2.75 meters (9-0¼). Nakeisha McKoy also contributed points in the throws, placing eighth in the women's shot put with a mark of 9.29 meters (30-5¾).
The Hawks will move into their outdoor portion of the season when they head to Utica University on March 21st for their next meet.
