MVCC Baseball Splits Home Doubleheader with SUNY Broome
Mohawk Valley Community College split a home doubleheader against SUNY Broome on Monday, earning a comeback win in Game 1 before falling in Game 2.
In the first game, MVCC scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure a 7–3 victory. Bailey Gleasman recorded a pinch-hit RBI infield single during the inning. Riley O'Toole led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, including a sacrifice fly.
The Hawks finished with eight hits and six walks. Franklyn Gutierrez drove in two runs, and Ryan Leos had a double while scoring two runs.
Starting pitcher Lucas Tucker pitched five innings, allowing three runs and striking out six batters. Cooper Joslin earned the win in relief with two scoreless innings.
In Game 2, SUNY Broome defeated MVCC 13–5.
Riley O'Toole had two hits, including a double and a triple, and drove in two runs. Ryan Leos added two hits, including a double, and one RBI. Mathew McNicoll also recorded a hit and an RBI.
MVCC used five pitchers in the second game. Graydon Hickey took the loss after pitching three innings and allowing eight runs, seven of which were earned.
The Hawks will return to action on Tuesday 3/24 when they travel to SUNY Broome for the second double header of the 4 game series.
