MVCC Baseball Drops Doubleheader to Erie Community College

Mohawk Valley Community College lost both games of a doubleheader against Erie Community College on March 29. The Hawks were defeated 12–5 in Game 1 and 10–0 in Game 2.

In Game 1, MVCC scored five runs on eight hits. CJ Kerslake led the offense with two runs batted in, including a double. Bradee Boughner also recorded two runs batted in and finished with two hits. Ryan Leos added two hits and scored one run, while Franklyn Gutierrez contributed two hits.

MVCC scored three runs in the first inning and added two more in the second inning to take an early lead. Erie Community College responded with steady offense, including a four-run fifth inning and additional scoring in later innings.

On the mound, Cohen Cosimeno started and took the loss, allowing three runs, two earned, over 2.2 innings while issuing six walks. Christophel Mendez and Graydon Hickey combined to allow eight more runs in relief. As a staff, MVCC pitchers issued 10 walks in the game.

In Game 2, Erie scored 10 runs in the first 5 innings of the game in a 10-0 win over the Hawks.

Erie Community College scored eight runs in the first inning and added two more later in the game. Jacob Scibetta hit a home run and drove in four runs to lead Erie's offense.

Franklyn Gutierrez started Game 2 and allowed eight runs in the first inning. Antonio DeMarco and Ricky Burch provided relief and combined to finish the game.

Mohawk Valley Community College will return to action on Saturday, April 4, when the Hawks travel to face Tompkins Cortland.
