MVCC Women's Track & Field Opens Season with Top National Performance

The Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) women's track and field team began its outdoor season at Utica University with multiple national qualifying performances and a top-ranked result. The meet serves as an early benchmark as MVCC prepares to host the NJCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships for the fourth straight year in early May.

Freshman Chennia Locke won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.55 seconds. This performance qualified her for nationals and currently ranks first in the nation in that event.

Freshman Nakeisha McKoy placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 7 and three-quarter inches. She also qualified for nationals in the hammer throw with a distance of 31.12 meters.

Freshman Rayne Winchester earned a national qualifying time in the 100-meter dash, finishing eighth with a time of 13.58 seconds.

The Hawks showed strong depth across events in their season opener and will compete next weekend at RPI.
