Hawks Earn Doubleheader Sweep Over Herkimer

Utica, NY — The Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks softball team recorded two wins over Herkimer College on April 9 at Accelerate Sports, winning 4–3 in eight innings and 6–3 in game two.

Game One

Mohawk Valley finished with six hits and four runs, using a two-run eighth inning to secure the win.

Scout Ludwig led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs, and a walk. Isabella Kleban reached base three times with a hit and two walks and scored one run.

Paige Morrone added two hits and a run scored, while Madysen Saddlemire recorded a hit and an RBI. Sarina Fields also drove in a run.

The Hawks drew four walks and struck out 11 times.

In the circle, Alyssa Peart pitched all eight innings, allowing six hits and three runs (one earned) while striking out seven and walking five.

Game Two

Mohawk Valley totaled nine hits and six runs in the second game.

Kaylee Beam led the offense and pitching effort. At the plate, she went 2-for-2 with two doubles, four RBIs, and a walk. In the circle, she pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits and three runs (two earned) with five strikeouts.

Madysen Saddlemire went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Scout Ludwig scored two runs, added a hit, and drew two walks.

Paige Morrone finished 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored, and Alyssa Peart contributed a double and a run. Leandra Plows added a hit and a run scored, while Isabella Kleban recorded a hit and a walk.

The Hawks drew six walks and struck out five times.

Next Games

Mohawk Valley will host Monroe Community College this Saturday then turn around and host Finger Lakes Community College on Sunday in two Region III double headers.
