Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Cayuga at Murnane Field

The Mohawk Valley Community College baseball team earned a split in a doubleheader against Cayuga Community College on Thursday.

In Game 1, the Hawks secured a 7–3 win behind a complete-game effort from Ryan Leos, who allowed three runs while recording six strikeouts. Offensively, MVCC totaled eight hits, with Mathew McNicoll collecting two hits and two RBIs. Franklyn Gutierrez and Riley O'Toole each added two hits, while Lucas Tucker drove in two runs to help lead the scoring effort.

Cayuga took an early lead, but MVCC responded with a three-run second inning and added insurance runs later in the game to pull away.

In Game 2, Cayuga earned an 8–3 victory. The Spartans used a multi-run fifth inning to take control and added late runs to secure the win. Mathew McNicoll provided a highlight for MVCC with a home run, while Graydon Hickey and Ryan Leos each drove in a run. The Hawks finished with four hits in the contest.

MVCC will return to action on Saturday, April 18, traveling to face Cayuga Community College to conclude the four-game series.
