Softball Splits with Erie

Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) softball split a doubleheader on the road against Erie Community College on April 21, dropping the opener 8–2 before responding with a 6–0 shutout victory in the second game.

In Game 1, MVCC recorded four hits and drew four walks but was unable to overcome an early deficit. Erie scored four runs in the first inning and added insurance runs throughout the game. Scout Ludwig and Paige Morrone each recorded doubles, while Madysen Saddlemire and Kaylee Beam drove in MVCC's two runs. Morrone and Leandra Plows each scored once.

Alyssa Peart pitched a complete game for MVCC, allowing eight runs, three earned, on nine hits while striking out five and walking four. Erie was led offensively by Hailey Wisser, who hit a home run and drove in three runs, and Amelia Potter, who added two hits and an RBI.

MVCC bounced back in Game 2 with a strong all-around performance, totaling 13 hits in a 6–0 win. The Hawks broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning and added single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Alyssa Peart led the offense, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Scout Ludwig also had a standout game, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including two doubles. Emma Kraszewski contributed two hits and a run scored, while Leandra Plows added a hit and scored twice. Kaylee Beam and Isabella Kleban each added a hit, with Beam driving in a run.

Beam also earned the win in the circle, throwing a complete-game shutout. She allowed just two hits, did not issue a walk, and kept Erie scoreless over seven innings.

The Hawks return to action when they travel to Hudson Valley on 4/28 for a double header against the Vikings.
